About Adela Planerova, DDS, MS

Dr. Planerova is a general dentist with years of experience in treating toddlers, adolescents and adults. Her heart is dedicated to care for children and adults with special healthcare needs. 

She was born in the Czech Republic where she received her undergraduate and master education at Charles University of Prague. She also received her doctorate in dentistry and her training in pediatric dentistry. She worked as a faculty member in the Pediatric Dental Department of Charles University before she came to Rochester. After relocating to Rochester with her family, she completed dental residency at Eastman Institute for Oral Health, Master of Science program in Medical Management at Simon Business School, and Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) fellowship at the University of Rochester. After completing these programs she became part of the dental faculty at Eastman Institute for Oral Health where she is leading a clinic for special needs patients and also responsible for education of future dentists in this area. 

Between the years of 2009-2012 Dr. Planerova worked as a dentist and lecturer at the Pediatric Dentistry Department, 1st Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Charles University & General Hospital in Prague, Czech Republic, European Union. It is here where she realized her passion for special healthcare needs patients and in the Operating Room. 2016-2023 she is working as an Associate Professor of Clinical Dentistry and Pediatrics with the University of Rochester and is currently the Director of Dental Services at Complex Care Center (CCC), Eastman Institute for Oral Health. Some of her other responsibilities include care in the operating room treating adults with disabilities. She was a faculty member at Leadership Education of Neurodevelopmental Disabilities fellowship (LEND) program with University of Rochester between 2021-2022. She joined our dental team in the summer of 2023. 

Her ultimate goal is to create a safe and comfortable dental environment for her patients. She recognizes that every child’s needs are different, and that dentistry should meet their needs in a fun and engaging way, while establishing trust and confidence. Dr. Planerova strives to ensure that everyone leaves with a smile on their face.
